The popularity of electric mountain bikes continues to grow!

The popularity of Electric-MTBs is still growing! And for good reason... this new activity has plenty of advantages over mountain biking. Although suitable for people who enjoy the super-sporty aspect of cycling and who like a challenge, it is of greater interest to people who want to put in more modest efforts but still enjoy superb bike rides... By covering more ground and greater climbs, electric mountain bikes give you access to more varied environments and more fabulous views in Méribel and the 3 Vallées. For nature lovers, riding an E-MTB allows you to explore varied scenery, including woodland, lakes and high altitude paths; watch marmots, and increases your opportunities of encountering more wildlife and plant species. Thanks to cycle itineraries that cater for all levels, you can pedal in peace, breathe easily and enjoy all the wonders of the valley!

Bikes rides for everybody

An electric mountain bike is the ideal choice for a wonderful bike ride with family or friends! Because the level of electric assistance (and hence the boost) can be adjusted,E-bikes iron out any differences in ability. In this way, dad won’t get bored and the youngest members of the family won’t feel left behind... For younger children (the sport is suitable for children over 1.30m), a trailer can easily be fixed to the back of an adult bike and they can be taken to Tueda and Col de la Loze. All it takes is a few clicks, and everyone can set out together and drink in all the wonders on view!

Itinerary

Of all the suitable itineraries for family bike rides, make sure you remember this one: the Tueda circuit. Setting out from La Chaudanne, take the Tougnète 1 gondola lift and then the gentle descent to Méribel Mottaret and continue to the magnificent Lac Tueda before returning to Chaudanne (this route is easily accessible with a trailer). The more adventurous variant of this route is also worth doing; simply take the same itinerary without using the ski lifts. There are many places where you can stop and cool down in the shade of a Cembro pine or have a wonderful picnic, especially near the lake...

Pedal power and favourite routes

For those looking to tackle more challenging routes, lots of itineraries become accessible with the extra assistance provided by an electric mountain bike. One of these, the Altiport forest offers you a pretty circuit mainly through the trees. This is easily accessed from La Chaudanne thanks to the free bus service, and you can return directly to La Chaudanne. Those who like pedalling as much as they appreciate the wild environments and spectacular views shouldn’t miss the Col de la Loze ride. There are two possible routes; one variant uses the Tougnète and Pas du Lac 1 gondola lifts and the other, sportier variant, does not.

As far as logistics are concerned, everything has been thought out to ensure your rides are hassle-free! Bikes can be hired at the Lounge (at La Chaudanne, next to the Legends chairlift and opposite the Tougnète gondola station). Here you will find Moustache bikes (France’s premier E-MTB brand),supplied with helmets. As for lift passes, there are plenty of different options to suit how often you ride, whether you are here for one day, a short break, a week or the whole season. What’s not to love?
